Indalo:  Sailing around Britain in a Mirage 2700

In 2005 I sailed Indalo, my 27’ Mirage yacht, around the coast of mainland Britain.   Setting out clockwise from Dartmouth the voyage took three and a half months and covered 1985 miles, taking in over 60 ports and anchorages.  Click on the following links for more information.

Retrospective

I sold Indalo in 2008 after two more seasons cruising the Channel and the Isles of Scilly:  I couldn’t spare another summer for a voyage around Ireland as I’d hoped, there were too many other things I wanted to do, and my parents were beginning to need more help at home.  My biggest regret in hindsight is not having made the short passage to Orkney when off the north coast.  I have since returned to Scotland to walk the Crinan Canal, visit Arran, Bute and Great Cumbrae (both by car ferry and by locally chartered yacht), revisit Islay, Mull and Skye, and spend some time on Shetland (including Yell, Unst and Fetlar), but so far Orkney has escaped me.
